I continue to wonder how this motor sank and who recovered it. These days an insurance company would have covered it and a salvage company would send it to be scrapped. But in 1969 things were different. Products were built to last, so I can see someone drying it out to either sell it or for their own use.
Today I cleaned up the mid section. I was going to Powerwashing it but realized I could just scrub it with pine-sol. I originally planned to have it media blasted but now plan on sanding it lightly and perhaps filling some up imperfections.
In the picture above you can see the mud that came out of the motor. It will be fun using this motor knowing it was underwater in 1969.
