Build Adirondack Chairs with Water Skis

Being a snow and water skier I’ve seen tons of Adirondack chairs made with old rental skis. People even sell them online, but they really leave something to be desired.

For example, this snow ski chair looks sort of cool but the arm angle doesn’t seem right and the only way to use the footrest is pulling it up against the chair.

This water ski chair seems to have a better angle on the arms and is wider.

This water ski chair uses some nice wood ones and is a lot better but the non-wood one looks out of place.

I’ve been picking up old skis here and there. My price point is about $20 per pair

Of course I had to ski on them so the story can be told when the chair is finished.

I found these three for $25 about five miles from home. I thought they were wood from the picture but when I got there they weren’t. I took them anyway. Turned out the one on the right is nearly perfect. It was just dirty. It’s worth at least $125 so I’ll sell it to cover my expenses on the chair I’ll build.

I removed the bindings for another ski I restored. Then I found some red and blue paint in my garage. One day when I was painting something else that I was going to clear coat, I painted these and used the rest of the clear coat on these.

This is what I’m headed toward for the back of my chair. They are all fiberglass so they may last a long time if I leave this outdoors.
